Mindscapes are interior/psychic landscapes—paintings exploring the realms and experience of perception, aesthetics, consciousness and the technologies of instinct (symbolism, myths, dreams, and the subconscious). These abstracted and surreal paintings are visual poems about our embedded reality, in contrast to our perceived separate, external reality. They explore the foundations and the structures of the psyche, interior realms of perception, and our various ways of knowing and being.
"Most of these paintings evolve as a group, though usually not one at a time in sequence, but more or less asynchronous... parallel to each other, over a period of time. The themes range from human instincts, desire and the will to power, altered states of consciousness and perception, physics and quantum mechanics, aesthetics and semiotics, mythos and dream-like states." -Roberto Quintana
