'The Seine at La Grande Jatte'
by Georges Seurat

About the Altadena Arts Magnet Elementary School French Dual Language Immersion Program:
The goal of the French Dual Language Immersion Program is for students to become bilingual, bi-literate, bi-cognitive, culturally sensitive learners. Their skills and expanded worldview will prepare them for success in a dynamic, competitive global society.

My challenge for this exciting commission was to create an immersive environment in the school library's Innovation Lab that would inspire the whole student body.
I worked with the principal, Ms. Scheckel, to choose a landscape painting by a french artist as the theme. After considering many beautiful options, and after checking on each painting's copyright status, we chose the innovative pointillist painter
Georges Seurat's light-hearted
impression of 'The Seine at La Grande Jatte.'

I'ld like to thank the folks over at the 'Alta/Pasa/Dena Open Studio's Tour' for recommending
my studio for this fun project.
